In memory of John Toon

We are devastated to share the sad news that John Toon passed away peacefully following a brave and dignified battle with Cancer.

John was MD of EPC from 1973-1999 and Chairman of the business from 1999 – 2018. He led from the front for 45 years and was responsible for building the foundations of the business as we know it today.

The biggest change he facilitated was taking us from a chrome, copper, nickel and brass plating factory to the specialist zinc-based high-performance coatings operation of more recent years.

He will be sadly missed at EPC where many of today’s employees had worked alongside him for 20 or 30 years, with others that he has literally watched grow up and grow with the business.

Known for always being visible on the shop floor in his grey lab coat, that cheeky smile, and the fact that he always had time for everyone, yet didn’t suffer fools gladly, John’s spirit lives on in the business and the team that he built at EPC.
